Special MINI JCW 1 TO 6 Edition set to make world premiere at 24 Hours of Nurburgring

KUALA LUMPUR: After big marques like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-Benz, BMW-owned Mini is ready to say goodbye to manual cars as it steps ahead with automatic transmission and electric powertrains. 

The luxury carmaker has introduced a special MINI John Cooper Works 1 TO 6 Edition model as its last manual car. It celebrates the brand’s legendary motorsport history while marking an end to 64 years of manual Minis. The global premiere of the car will be held at 24 Hours of Nurburgring on May 20, 2023. 

“The MINI John Cooper Works models have their roots in motorsport. With the MINI John Cooper Works 1 to 6 Edition, we are celebrating MINI's legendary motorsport history and maximizing the brand-typical driving experience,” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

This limited-run Mini is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine found in the standard JCW. The mill kicks out a maximum power of 231 PS and a peak torque of 320 Nm. It comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission that adds a "1 TO 6" edition to the car’s name by representing gears from first to sixth.

According to the automaker, the manual gearbox makes the car a special high-performance model. It enhances the dynamic driving experience and evokes a thrilling racing sensation when combined with the standard stainless-steel pedals.

In terms of aesthetics, the MINI JCW 1 TO 6 Edition comes with the following exclusive bits - 

• All-black exterior sprayed with Midnight Black paint
• Piano Black trims
• 18-inch Circuit Spoke wheels painted in Circuit Black
• Several model-specific badges in white, silver, and red
• Manual transmission graphics 
• ‘1 to 6’ emblems on the dashboard, door sills, steering wheel, and floor mats
• ‘One of 999’ script on the steering wheel marking the car’s limited availability

Parts of the standard features kit are - a fully digital instrument panel, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a head-up display, a reversing camera, heated front seats, and a Harmon Kardon sound system.

The production of this special Mini will remain limited to 999 units, all in a three-door format. It will be priced at £39,600 (RM 223,451) in the UK.
