SPYSHOTS: New Peugeot 408 spotted in Malaysia again!
Kuala Lumpur: The French automaker Peugeot rolled out another package of euphoria for the Malaysians, the all new Peugeot 408. We have received spy shots of Peugeot's upcoming sedan undergoing on tests, running on the roads of Malaysia. The pictures has been taken by Mohd in Gurun, Kedah which is an assembly under to Naza Automotive Manufacturing for 308, 3008, 408, 508.
The all new Peugeot 408 is said to be the sedan sister of the latest Peugeot 308, of which spy shots have already been captured. But this is the first time, when someone has managed to get the inside clicks. The picture above clears off the cabin detailing and highlights. As seen, the car is kept right-hand driving with appointed more conventional dashboard design.
Also, it appears like the car's profile has been kept pretty similar to the Malaysian-spec 308 THP. Including, down to the black theme, metallic trim and seat design it shows resemblance with the vehicle. The push start button and electronic parking brake are provided at right places along with a big touch screen located centrally onto the car's dashboard panel.
Moving to the other side, it is interesting to see that the sporty blade-style five-spoke wheels are flanked with the vehicle as opposed to the Chinese-market 408's multi-spoked wheel pattern.
Talking about the chassis construction and ground level foundation of the vehicle, all new Peugeot 408 shares PSA’s EMP2 underpinnings with the new 308, which was announced as 2014 European Car of the Year, launched in Malaysia in the month of April. Overall structure of the vehicle is redefined with 2730 mm of wheelbase, that extends 20 mm from its previous version. Also, it is expected to come in lighter weight model to add on one more significance to the respective car.
According to sources, new Peugeot 408 is anticipated to launch sometime in the second half this year. The car is said to be powered by a direct-injected, turbocharged 1.6-litre THP engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. For the same, China also gets 1.2-litre e-THP engine unit and normally aspirated 1.8-litre CVVT powertrain.
