HONDA Malaysia has relocated its Northern Service Central Hub for Takata front airbag inflator replacement to mainland Penang.
The move, which came into effect at the end of October, was to make it easier for affected customers on the mainland to get their suspect airbags fixed.
Locations of the Central and Southern Service Hubs will be maintained.
All three Northern, Central and Southern Service Central Hubs will operate daily and close only during public holidays, the company says.
These Service Central Hubs are open from 8am to 5:50pm on weekdays and from 8am to 5pm on weekends. The Hubs will operate until 31 December 2016.
Honda Malaysia is also operating mobile service centres to enlarge its catchment of affected customers.
Takata airbags that have exploded with deadly force has killed a number of drivers including two Malaysians as well as numerous injuries.
According to the company, 58 percent of affected customers have got their vehicles fixed.
"More than 92,700 units of affected Takata front airbag inflators have been replaced. Out of these, close to 13,000 units or 14 percent were replaced at the Honda Temporary Hubs".
In the Northern region, 6 percent of suspect vehicles are yet to be fixed while the Southern and Central regions still had 6 percent and 18 percent of affected vehicles left to be repaired.
Parts for Takata passenger front airbag inflators were gradually arriving and expected to be at 55 percent by end of December 2016.
