Will Malaysia see the Mazda CX-3 with “Diesel fuel” only?
KUALA LUMPUR: Apparently, the “tentative” specifications which are uploaded by a Facebook user has created a buzz and hope in the Malaysian market for witnessing the 1.5 litre SkyActiv-D diesel engine Mazda CX-3, sometime soon in the future, maybe by the year end; like it’s yet to be launched petrol variant, even this diesel variant will be fully imported (CBU) from Japan.
The 1.5 SkyActiv-D engine has acquired many technologies of the 2.2 SkyActiv-D and further strengthening itself with an expanded homogeneous lean burn range, reducing the mechanical resistance while enhanced insulation to curb the increase in cooling loss associated with a smaller engine. The variable turbine geometry turbo is integrated with rotation sensors and water-cooled intercooler. The four cylinders in-line engine with direct fuel injection, when mated with six-speed automatic transmission, gives 105 PS of power at 4000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque in between 1500 and 2500 rpm.
Mazda claims “outstanding dynamic performance”, “linear acceleration all the way to up the rpm range” and “excellent environmental performance without resorting to expensive NOX after treatment systems.”
Taking a glimpse of the kit of this diesel variant, it seems well-equipped with leather seats, head-up display, engine start-stop button, a seven-inch MZD display with a commander control knob, USB, Bluetooth, AUX, Internet radio, six speakers, six airbags, reverse camera and control features such as dynamic stability control, traction control system, and cruise control. The expected exterior highlights include the LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, rain sensors, and reverse sensors.
While the CX-3 petrol variant is inviting its booking with an estimated price range of RM 120 k to 130 k and promising deliveries in August, hoping soon the booking opening of the diesel variant as well.
