MAS 2025: New Modenas electric scooters, Kymco DTX 250, and Ninja H2 SX SE launched

KUALA LUMPUR: At the ongoing Malaysia Autoshow 2025, MODENAS (a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad) has launched four new models across three different market segments. These include -

• Modenas MEV-2 and MEV-1 electric scooters 
• Modenas Kymco DTX 250 scooter
• Kawasaki Ninja H2SX SE sport touring motorcycle 

Modenas MEV-2

The Modenas MEV-2 is an electric scooter designed for urban commuting. The key highlights include -

• Power: It is powered by an electric motor generating a maximum power of 5.1 kW.  The top speed is rated at 80 kmph.
• Range: The eco-friendly vehicle has an ATL lithium (74V30Ah, Option for 2 Batteries) battery offering a range of 107 km on a single charge. 
• Features: The Modenas MEV-2 key features include - LED lighting, on-board charger, telescopic front suspension, 16-inch front and 14-inch real wheel, hydraulic disc brakes, and a large size digital display.
• Colours: Two colour options are available for the MEV-2 - White and Blue.
• Price: The Modenas MEV-2 is priced at RM 9,878 (excluding insurance & road tax).

Modenas MEV-1 

Another Modenas electric scooter debuting at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 is the MEV-1, which comes in PRO and PRO SX trims. It offers a longer range for urban as well as rural commutes. Designed for tougher performance, the EV has the following key specifications -

• Power: At the core of the MEV-1 lies a 4.9 kW electric motor, enabling the scooter to attain a top speed of 85 kmph.
• Range:  The e-motor is tied up with an ATL Lithium (60V45Ah, Option for 2 Batteries) pack, which provides a driving range of 135 km.
• Features: Key features include - On-board charger, a large digital display, 16-inch front and 14-inch real wheel, telescopic front suspension, hydraulic disc brakes with CBS, and an enhanced torque for better acceleration.
• Colours - The MEV-1 comes in Red and Black options.
• Price: The Modenas MEV-1 price tag reads RM 13,470 (excluding insurance & road tax).

Modenas Kymco DTX 250 

Modenas has expanded the Kymco lineup with the launch of an all-new, stylish, and agile urban scooter, the DTX 250, which seems perfect for both city rides and weekend getaways. The key highlights include - 

• Engine: As the name suggests, the Kymco DTX 250 is powered by a 246-cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled engine that kicks out a maximum power of 17 kW at 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 23 Nm at 6000 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via a CVT gearbox.
• Features: The features list includes - keyless system, LED instrument display, LED headlight and tail light, all-in-one induction key, traction control system, 5-stage adjustable double rear shock, power socket, 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels, disc brakes, ABS, and a generous under-seat storage.
• Colours: Two options are available - Flat Deep Green and Matt Black.
• Price: The Kymco DTX 250  retails for RM 22,500 (excluding insurance & road tax).

Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE

The next model Modenas’ booth has on display is the ultimate sport touring machine, the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE. This high-performance machine promises to offer exceptional riding performance and comfort to the rider. The key highlights are as follows - 

• Engine: Powering the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE is a 998-cc supercharged four-cylinder liquid-cooled machine that is capable of generating 210 PS of maximum power at 11,000 rpm and 137 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via 6-speed transmission.
• Features: Key features include - Kawasaki Supercharger, Advanced Electronic Systems (KECS, KIBS, KCMF, KIPASS), Brembo disc brakes, 43mm inverted Showa fork, 6.5" Full-color TFT instrumentation, all-LED lighting including cornering lights, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki SPIN infotainment app.
• Colours: Emerald Blazed Green / Metallic Diablo Black / Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray.
• Price: The Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE costs RM 129,400 (excluding insurance & road tax) in Malaysia.
