Top 5 Dog Friendly Cars

Kuala Lumpur: While buying a car, most of the people would consider its fuel economy, safety aspects, engine specifications or just comfort. But for some of us, at the back of our head we do have our four-legged friend in mind while buying a car. Yes!!! We are talking about dogs. All dog lovers would agree that it is almost impossible to leave your dog behind, everytime you leave your house they would come down to you and follow until you reach the car. It's not always convenient for you to transport your furry friend.

When it comes to cars for dog owners, there's no question that some vehicles are simply better than others. There are a number of features that can help make your vehicle choice a more pet-friendly one. These features include a roomy cabin which is especially beneficial for large dogs to stretch out, a sunroof that brings fresh air and sunlight into the car so you can keep your dog from hanging its head out of the window, a rear climate control to keep your dog cool and comfortable, a low ride height for their easy entry and exit and foldable seats to create that extra space for your dogs.

On 26th August we celebrated National Dog Day, so in order to keep that spirit alive we decided to bring out a list of cars which inherit some of the above features.

Volvo XC60

It offers a luxurious ride to your pets with its large and roomy cabin. It's back seat has enough space to help your dogs stretch out and be comfortable while the panoramic sunroof gives them a cloud gazing experience. Its safety features include City Safety that will compensate for driver's inattention by automatically applying brakes and preventing a rear-end collision. Other features include rubber mats for the cargo area and a pet barrier that connects to the top of the rear seats.

Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester has got plenty of capabilities for your dog along with lots of interior space to help move them freely. Its cargo capacity with the rear seats folded is impressive and your dog would definitely love its huge headroom. Moreover, the cargo floor is just 27 inches off the ground which makes it easier for them to get in and out.

Mazda 3

Though its suitability for larger breeds is in doubt, but its flexible interiors are suitable for most of them. Its wide opening rear doors and tailgate make it an attractive deal for many pet owners. Talking about the accessories, you will find a wide range of mats and kennels which can be fitted into the interior.

Kia Soul

It's roomier interior makes it a good choice for transporting smaller and mid-sized breeds. The extra-large panoramic roof and bigger than average windows provide a good view to your pets. Further, the accessories which can be added to this car includes thick and heavy-duty mats and pet-resistant seat covers. The ride of Kia Soul is comparatively firm to prevent your dogs from banging into seats.

Peugeot 3008

This SUV has got a boot space of 512 litres which can be further extended to a whopping 1604 litres by folding the rear seats. Its flat floor with a low loading height makes it easier for the pooches to jump in and out of the car. Further, its false floor can be split into three ways which is perfect for storing those dog essentials. Other storage options include large door pockets and centre console.

Charu Gupta

Charu Gupta

Her love for these mean machines is carried over from her childhood. For Charu, Barbies didn't make a place in the list of her favorite toys. Instead she would love to collect those toy cars and would go gaga over them. Dragged into the commerce background earlier, now she has finally found her long lost love with CarBay. With a dream to own an Aston Martin one day, she doesn't get tired researching about other automakers too.
