5-star safety rating for the upcoming smart #1 EV

KUALA LUMPUR: The European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) recently conducted a crash test on 14 cars including Toyota bZ4x, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Tesla Model S, and more. The most attractive car on the list, however, is the smart #1, as it is the EV’s first Euro NCAP rating.

In the EURO NCAP crash test, the EV was awarded a 5-star rating, meaning high scores in all safety categories including Safety Assist, Adult Occupants, Vulnerable Road Users, and Child Occupants. Thus, confronting the Chinese Ev's strong commitment to driver’s and passenger's safety.

• The EV comes equipped with several intelligent safety features like Pedestrian & Cyclist Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Door Open Warning System, and Emergency Maneuver Assist

• Its wide range of active safety features includes the smart Pilot Assist Package which packs features like Front Collision Mitigation and Lane Keeping Assist

• Being an EV the smart#1 comes with solid overall battery safety protection. The car’s multiple technical safeguard measures include heat insulation of battery modules, high thermal stability battery core materials, and structural protection of battery pack

• Adding to the EVs safety front is the use of high-strength steel (74%) and press-hardened steel (19%)

smart#1 in Malaysia

The all-electric smart#1 is scheduled to enter the local market in Q4 2023. The car’s sales will be handled in Malaysia by Proton through its new subsidiary, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET).
