All-new Kia K4 design revealed; global premiere later this month

KUALA LUMPUR: Kia has pulled the wraps off the second-gen K4 sedan ahead of its global premiere scheduled for March 27 at the New York Auto Show 2024. The exterior and interior design of the sedan have been unveiled while the technical specifications are yet to be announced.

The new K4 underpins the Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ styling philosophy and looks similar to the smaller K3. The sedan features the brand’s signature “Tiger Face” with vertical headlamps positioned at the extreme edges of the front end. These come mated to the new star map lighting technology, themed around constellations. Further accentuating the K4’s sophisticated appeal are daytime running light elements integrated with horizontal chrome strips.

Moving to the rear, the new K4 maintains its striking appearance with L-shaped tail lights extending towards a wide bumper. Also part of the Kit is an air diffuser in the bumper enhancing the car's graphical and powerful design. 

The second-gen Kia K4 has a driver-oriented cockpit design with a “graphic split” that separates the driver's space from the passenger cabin. The cabin offers various lighting options to enhance the premium feel, with a large central screen and an elegantly designed central console emphasising the driver-passenger division. It is kitted with several physical buttons and a rotary controller for quick and intuitive interaction with the car's functions.

Kia offers a range of seating trims, materials, patterns, and colours like Medium Gray, Slate Green, Canyon Brown, and Onyx Black, enhancing the cabin's sophisticated and luxurious ambiance.

"Every contour, curve and detail of the K4 has been carefully considered and crafted to adhere to Kia's design philosophy, Opposites United, bringing together clean faceted surfacing and technological details in a bold, cohesive statement. Every aspect further strengthens the relationship between brand and design," says Karim Habib, Executive Vice President, and head of Kia Global Design. 

“With the design of the K4, we are building on what we've learnt and making those values accessible to even more people, by bringing a product that is relevant and meaningful, to inspire the way they think, move and live."

In terms of mechanicals, the new Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla rival is likely to get 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated and 1.6-litre turbocharged mills. Well, for the exact specifications, we need to wait for a few days.
