BYD Atto 3 Ultra launched in Malaysia – RM124k, sweet early bird offers!

KUALA LUMPUR:  BYD Sime Motors has officially launched the BYD Atto 3 Ultra in Malaysia, offering "upgraded" specs for one of the nation’s top-selling electric vehicle.

At an attractive price point of RM123,800, the Atto 3 Ultra is one of the most competitively priced electric SUVs in the market, clearly aiming to boost its sales locally.

Interestingly, despite being branded as an upgrade with the 'Ultra' name, this variant shares identical specs with the previously launched BYD Atto 3 Extended Range model, which debuted just last year at RM149,800.

Essentially, this launch represents a significant price reduction, likely intended to counter sales pressure from Proton’s recently launched eMAS 7.

To also even further sweeten the deal, BYD Sime Motors offers a generous launch package for the first 1,000 buyers. This exclusive early bird deal includes a RM5,000 cash rebate, an 8-year service package valued at RM4,888, a free 7kW wall charger, a complimentary V2L adaptor, a type 2 charging cable, and unlimited internet access for two years.

A solid warranty package covers the vehicle for 6 years or 150,000 km, high-voltage battery for 8 years or 160,000 km, and the drive unit for 8 years or 150,000 km.

Customers can also opt for a Service Plus package, adding extra maintenance benefits like tire rotations, alignment, balancing, and annual 12V battery replacements.

The Atto 3 Ultra introduces several appealing features, such as a convenient Digital Key (NFC) and Bluetooth key access via the BYD app. It also boasts a refreshed all-black interior with sporty yellow stitching, ventilated front seats perfect for Malaysia’s heat, and a redesigned stylish rim that complements its aerodynamic and modern appearance.

Specs-wise, the BYD Atto 3 Ultra hits 0-100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds, delivers a range of up to 480 km (NEDC), powered by a 60.48 kWh battery, and produces 150 kW (310 Nm of torque).

For exterior colours, BYD has streamlined its offerings down to just three options: Ski White, Harbour Grey, and Cosmos Black. Thankfully, the interior has also seen a welcome update—now featuring a tasteful all-black finish with sporty yellow stitching, a significant improvement from the previous polarising blue and light-coloured combo.

The BYD Atto 3 has consistently topped sales charts, holding the position as Malaysia’s best-selling EV for two years running but now faces stiff competition from other manufacturers. Globally, it's proven reliable across 116 countries, thanks to BYD's acclaimed Blade Battery technology known for safety and durability.

Owners will enjoy comprehensive after-sales services provided by BYD’s 35 outlets across Malaysia, covering even East Coast and East Malaysia. Maintenance costs remain substantially lower compared to conventional SUVs, with one long-term user since 2022, Mr Tee, affirming he has driven over 100,000 km with lower maintenance expenses than his previous petrol car.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Motors for Southeast Asia, emphasized the Atto 3’s impact: "The BYD Atto 3 has transformed Malaysia's EV landscape, making electric mobility more accessible and practical." Gan also highlighted a new incentive—an 8-year free service package and comprehensive warranty—backed by a robust network of 21 BYD 3S centres nationwide.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, expressed confidence in BYD's global reputation, noting the Atto 3's impressive sales record—over 6,300 units sold in Malaysia alone, and more than 950,000 worldwide. Zhao added that customer satisfaction remains high, reflected in exceptionally low battery warranty claims (under 0.3%) and numerous Malaysian drivers already surpassing 80,000km without significant battery degradation.
