Check out the new stylish electric SUV, the Cupra Tavascan
KUALA LUMPUR: Cupra has unveiled its new flagship model which is an electric SUV by the name Tavascan. Yes, it is the same car that was introduced as a concept back at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Wayne Griffiths, Cupra CEO, said: "In 2019, we had the vision to reinvent electrification: we wanted to show with Tavascan that it's not a vehicle responding to change, but a car that creates it. Back then maybe it was only a dream. Now with the CUPRA Tavascan, our dream comes true."

Let us get to know the all-new Cupra Tavascan in detail -
- The new electric SUV is built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform
- Its styling clues include a three-triangle signature and patterned grille, bold LED rear lighting, and coupe-styled profile
- Adding to its sportier appeal are standard bucket seats made with recycled materials, a large 15-inch touchscreen (the largest to date by the brand), and a more intuitive infotainment system along with a digital dial display

- Powertrain options include both rear- and four-wheel-drive models. While the twin electric motors will develop 340 hp, the single-motor, rear-wheel-drive option will generate 286 hp
- Both the above-mentioned setups use a 77 kWh battery that delivers a range of up to 549 km
- The EV can be charged at up to 135 kW which allows for a 10 to 80% charge in around 30 minutes

- Allowing for a sportier or more comfortable setting as per the driver’s mood is the Dynamic Chassis Control
- Also, part of the specs kit is a sports suspension and progressive steering

The Cupra Tavascan is scheduled for a 2024 launch and is set to be manufactured at the new Volkswagen Group factory in Anhui, China.
