Dongfeng Vigo EV launched in Malaysia - 471 km CLTC range, RM 108,888

KUALA LUMPUR: Dongfeng Motor Corporation has expanded its lineup in the Malaysian market with the launch of two new exciting EVs - the Dongfeng Vigo SUV and the Dongfeng 007 sedan, designed for active lifestyles, intelligent performance, and everyday usability. 

This expansion begins a new phase in the brand’s local journey as Volt Auto partners with Central Auto Distributors Bhd to introduce these models, in line with the nation’s growing adoption of sustainable mobility.

Dongfeng Vigo EV: Key highlights

Price 

The Dongfeng 007 is priced at RM 108,888 (on the road, without insurance) in Malaysia. The launch promo offers a discount of RM 8,888 (bringing the price down to RM 100,000) and an extended ownership package, which includes a complimentary ABB wall box, a six-year vehicle warranty with unlimited mileage, and an eight-year powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage.

Dimensions

Built for both daily commutes and weekend escapes, the Dongfeng Vigo is a C-segment electric SUV that measures 4.306 mm in length, 1,868 mm in width and 1,654 mm in height. The electric SUV offers generous interior space with a 2,715 mm wheelbase and a class-leading usable space ratio. With a 500-litre boot space, the EV comes equipped with an additional 72-litre hidden compartment.

Drivetrain, range and charging 

The Malaysia-spec Dongfeng Vigo runs on a single front-mounted electric motor generating a maximum power of 161 hp and a peak torque of 230 Nm. The EV runs from zero to 100 kmph in 9.5 seconds. 

The e-motor is fed by a 51.87 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack that delivers an estimated driving range of 471 km (CLTC test cycle). It supports DC fast charging of up to 167 kW, enabling an 80% charge in approximately 18 minutes. Built to perform reliably in Malaysia’s tropical climate, the EV comes equipped with an intelligent thermal management system.

Exterior

The SUV has a rugged yet modern design with boxy proportions and an off-road-ready stance. It boasts LED headlights paired with L-shaped daytime running lights and L-shaped rear light clusters separated by a thin LED bar.

One of the noticeable design highlights is its innovative “Heaven and Earth Gate” split tailgate, capable of supporting up to 150 kg. This multifunctional design can transform the EV’s rear into a practical platform for activities such as camping, tailgating, or outdoor gatherings.

Interior 

The Vigo EV features a smart cockpit with advanced creature comforts, 37 layers of sound insulation, and an ultra-low 18 dB powertrain noise level, offering a quiet and comfortable driving experience.

Safety

In terms of safety and driver-assistance, the latest Dongfeng EV features a wide range of active and passive safety systems, a Level 2 Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) pack, and a 540° panoramic camera with a transparent-chassis view.

Colour options 

Dongfeng Malaysia offers the Vigo in six exterior colours - Titanium Silver, Sandstone Beige, Arctic White, Mosswood Green, Cyber Black, and Canyon Orange.
