GWM Malaysia begins the Ora 5 HEV local assembly, celebrates 4 years with special offers

KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this year, GWM Malaysia opened the ordering bookings for the ORA 5 Hi2 HEV, slated to make its local debut later this month. Well. ahead of that, the company has rolled out the first locally assembled unit of the hybrid SUV at EP Manufacturing Bhd. (EPMB) plant in Melaka. 

The Ora 5 rollout expands GWM Malaysia’s locally assembled portfolio alongside the HAVAL H6 HEV and WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV and HEV, which further strengthens Malaysia's role within the automaker’s regional manufacturing footprint.

Stan Li Hao, Managing Director, Commercial Operations, GWM Malaysia, said, "The rollout of our first locally assembled GWM ORA 5 Hi2 HEV is an exciting milestone ahead of its Malaysian launch. Combining performance, efficiency, design and practicality, we believe it will offer customers more than they expect from a compact hybrid SUV."

GWM Ora 5 HEV: Award-winning design, intelligent hybrid system

The GWM Ora 5 is a compact crossover that features an award-winning design inspired by nature and GWM’s Hi2 hybrid system, delivering a combined range of 1,100 km, with an impressive fuel efficiency of 4.4 litres per 100 km (22.7 kmpl).

The hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 150 PS and 240 Nm and a single electric motor tuned to make 190 PS and 236 Nm. The combined system is rated at 223 PS and 476 Nm, enabling the SUV to hit the century sprint in 7.7 seconds. The Ora 5 will offer efficiency and convenience for both daily commuting and longer journeys, without requiring external charging.

Targeting young professionals, couples, and connected urban users, the upcoming Ora 5 is expected to come with a wide range of intelligent technologies.

GWM celebrates four years in Malaysia with special offers 

GWM is also celebrating four years of growth in Malaysia under the theme "GROW WITH MALAYSIA,” offering special anniversary editions, exclusive year-end privileges and lucky draw rewards.

• Customers who purchase a GWM vehicle in November or December 2026 will get a chance to win the all-new ORA 5 Hi2 HEV in an exclusive grand lucky draw contest. The winner will be announced in January 2027.
• Separate monthly lucky draws in November and December will offer a combined prize pool of up to RM 100,000 across both months.

GWM HAVAL H6 HEV and GWM TANK 500 Special Anniversary Editions

The automaker has also introduced special anniversary editions of the GWM HAVAL H6 HEV and GWM TANK 500. These special models feature distinctive black finishes, selected exterior enhancements and added convenience through telematics features.
