GWM Tank 500: All you need to know about this luxury off-roader

Great Wall Motor Malaysia took centre stage at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 by launching its brand-new 7-seater SUV, the Tank 500. This luxury off-road SUV is built for those who want to challenge any terrain, featuring intelligent hybrid power, bold appearance and refined comfort.

The GWM’s sub-brand Tank has already achieved big heights in the global market. With over 650,000+ units sold worldwide, it holds the title of the world’s No.1 Chinese off-road SUV brand. Speaking of Malaysia, it has been gaining traction, attracting both off-road adventurers and urban drivers looking for capable SUVs.

GWM Malaysia marked a major sales milestone for the Tank 300 earlier this year, while the newly launched Tank 500 impressed with 150 bookings within just one day of its official debut.

GWM Tank 500 price

The Tank 500 is offered in a sole Ultra variant, fully imported from Thailand. The price tag reads RM 328,800 (on the road, without insurance).

Based on a ladder frame chassis, the 7-seater Tank 500 measures 5,078 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width and 1,905 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The water depth is 800 mm with ground clearance measured at 224 mm. 

The SUV also incorporates an expansive rear cargo space with a maximum capacity of 1,489 litres (when second and third row seats are folded), 795 litres (when third row is folded) and 98 litres (when all seats are up).

Built to conquer with confidence, the Tank 500 boasts a massive chrome grille bracketed by intelligent LED projector headlights and a chunky bumper housing full-width U-shaped chrome trim headed by LED fog light strips.

Adding to its commanding look is an externally mounted spare tyre with wheel cover and 20-inch multi-spoke wheels wrapped with Continental CrossContact RX.  The SUV also features electronically extending side steps and a hydraulic sideways-opening tailgate with electric soft-closing.
