Elmina Lakeside Mall and MINI Malaysia launch Christmas giving drive for 120 underprivileged children

The initiative, which runs until 19 December 2025, is centred around “The Giving Post” inside the mall, where a MINI Convertible is being used as the official display and collection point for gifts. According to Sime Darby Property, the idea is to make it easy for people in the Klang Valley to drop by and take part.

“Elmina Lakeside Mall is pleased to serve as the venue sponsor for this meaningful initiative. Its convenient access via the Guthrie Corridor Expressway and seamless connections across the Klang Valley, makes it easy for the community to stop by, participate, and be part of this charity drive. We hope to encourage the public to share the festive joy and ensure every child feels included in the celebrations,” said Appollo Leong, Chief Operating Office – Township Development at Sime Darby Property.

This year’s beneficiaries are children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras, a local welfare home supporting orphans and children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Visitors can join by picking a numbered wish tab from a board at The Giving Post, each tab matched to a specific item on a child’s wish list. From there, the public is asked to buy the exact item listed and return it to the collection point, so it goes to the intended child.

To keep things safe and hygienic, organisers say all gifts must be brand-new and unopened. The drop-off counter is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Elmina Lakeside Mall.

MINI Malaysia says the campaign is an extension of the brand’s “Big Love” message, and it plans to close the drive with a delivery event.

“We believe that ‘Big Love’ is best expressed through action. This collaboration with Sime Darby Property allows us to steer our collective energy towards a meaningful cause. It is inspiring to see our iconic MINI Convertible transformed into a beacon of hope at Elmina Lakeside Mall, and we look forward to the finale where our convoy will personally deliver these contributions, proving that the road to kindness is one best travelled together,” said Linnet Yew, Director of MINI Malaysia.

That finale is scheduled for Saturday, 20 December 2025, with “The Big Love Drive”. Organisers say around 20 MINI owners will gather at the mall, load up the collected gifts, and then drive them directly to Rumah Kasih Harmoni so the children receive their presents in time for the festive season.

On top of the charity drive, the mall will also host weekend MINI test drives from 5 to 28 December, positioned as an extra activity for visitors during the holiday period.
