Enjoy the Visual Treat – Mercedes-Benz New GLC X205

KUALA LUMPUR : Automobile-makers always strive to create cars that impress people not only through its looks, but also through its mechanism. Apart from these two areas, car-makers also work hard to give an appropriate name to their cars. Mercedes-Benz is one such car-maker, which has recently adopted a name changing strategy for its new SUV. They have changed the nomenclature of its SUV segment from GLK to GLC- Class, which is said to be a high-heel replica of the C-class.

Though, only a month old since its launch, this SUV has created a lot of buzz amongst its fans. Apart from its new name, the car is packed with a whole new feature. It is being said that this crossover will make its way to the Malaysian showroom in early 2016, and for now we can enjoy this SUV in the images released by Mercedes-Benz.

This GLC, built on the Modular Rear Architecture, will be provided to a larger set of consumers, as it would be constructed for both left and right hand drivers. It would be available in three exterior trims – standard, off-road pack and AMG line dressing.

As for the engine, the GLC class would replicate its godfather, the C-class and all the engines will be mated with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic gearbox. This SUV will also be available in a hybrid version, the GLC350 e 4MATIC coupled with a hybrid-specific 7G-Tronic Plus transmission.

On the mechanical front, this new SUV will have a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, though not at par with the E-Class, making it a lot more spacious and comfortable.

With its global sales starting in November, it will surely give a tough competition to the BMW X3 and Audi Q3.
