All-new 2026 BYD Atto 3 coming to Malaysia - Launch set for June 5

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new BYD Atto 3 facelift is on its way to Malaysia. The automaker has teased the upcoming model on its social media handles, announcing that the new Atto 3 will launch on June 5, 2026.

While BYD does not reveal any official details about the upcoming Atto 3, the teaser mentioning “faster, further, and smarter” hints that bigger upgrades may be on the table. 

2026 BYD Atto 3: What to expect?

Refreshed exterior design

With reference to the global model, the upcoming Atto 3 facelift has the same familiar silhouette as the current model, with dimensions remaining largely unchanged. However, we can expect the following cosmetic tweaks for a fresher appearance - 

• New bumpers
• New tail light signatures with a knotted lighting pattern
• New roof spoiler with integrated split brake lights
• New alloy wheel designs 

A more modern cabin layout 

Compared to the exterior, the Atto 3 interior will be receiving a significant overhaul, offering a more comfortable riding experience to occupants. Expected interior upgrades include - 

• New dashboard layout with redesigned steering wheel
• Bigger digital instrument cluster
• Redesigned column-mounted gear selector
• Non-rotating touchscreen central display
• Dual smartphone storage area

More powerful motor and a longer range

The upgraded electric SUV may come with a new rear-wheel drive setup in Malaysia, delivering more power and a longer range. The said drivetrain generates a maximum power of 313 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm, enabling the EV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds. It is paired with a 74.88-kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 510 km. 

For the sake of comparison, the existing model comes equipped with a 201-hp front-wheel drive motor and a 60.48 kWh battery pack.

Faster charging 

Another major upgrade that the Atto 3 may receive is the 800-volt electrical architecture, which will significantly improve charging performance. We can expect up to 220 kW DC fast charging capability, which can juice up 10 to 80% battery in 25 minutes.
