Jaecoo J5 EV launching soon in Malaysia, teaser out
KUALA LUMPUR: OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia is set to launch the battery-electric version of the J5 SUV introduced in March this year. The automaker has started the teaser campaign for the Jaecoo J5 EV on its social media handles, hinting at its imminent arrival.

- The battery-electric version of the Jaecoo J5 comes powered by a front-wheel drive motor in Thailand, generating a maximum power of 211 PS and a peak torque of 288 Nm. Power is enough to take the EV from zero to 100 kmph in 7.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 175 kmph.
- Feeding the e-motor is a 58.9 kWh battery pack, which offers an NEDC-rated driving range of 461 km (400 km on the WLTP cycle).
- The EV supports up to 130 kW DC fast charging that can juice up the battery from 30 to 80% in just 28 minutes. It also features a 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) system, enabling users to power their electrical appliances.
Photo from OMODA | JAECOO- The electric SUV measures 4,380 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, 1,650 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,620 mm. The rear boot capacity is estimated at 480 litres, expandable up to 1,284 litres with the rear seats folded. A 35-litre frunk is also provided.
- In terms of features, the EV is expected to get an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, dual-zone auto air-conditioning system, panoramic glass roof with a powered sunshade, powered front seats with ventilation function, a wireless charging pad, eight speakers, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a comprehensive ADAS pack.
