Isuzu announces two new F-Series trucks with Allison transmissions

KUALA LUMPUR: Isuzu Commercial Truck of America teamed up with Allison Transmission for its first F-Series Class 7 and Class 6 truck models. The latter is the world’s largest manufacturer of fully automatic gearboxes for medium- and heavy-duty commercial and defense vehicles.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Which Isuzu trucks equip Allison transmissions?

Isuzu’s first F-Series Class 7 and Class 6 truck models equip 2500 Rugged Duty Series (RDS) 6-speed fully AT and 2550 RDS 6-speed AT, respectively.
  • The F-Series Class 7 truck will be equipped with 2500 Rugged Duty Series (RDS) 6-speed fully AT. The truck’s 7 FVR model gets the Allison 2500 without a park pawl. The F-Series Class 6, on the other hand, will feature Allison’s 2550 RDS 6-speed AT unit. Its FTR model will be mated to Allison 2550 with park pawl.

Both the transmissions come with FuelSense 2.0 software mated to the proven Cummins B6.7 diesel engine. This not only increases the trucks’ performance but also provides better control to drivers, says the automaker.

Isuzu has started the production of these highly-anticipated trucks.

“Isuzu’s rugged chassis and user-friendly low cab forward design coupled with the latest powertrain from Allison and Cummins will enable us to maintain Isuzu’s long-standing reputation for a low total cost of ownership and ease of use, particularly in urban environments or where maneuverability is critical,” said Shaun Skinner, President of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America.

“Allison is proud to partner with Isuzu to design a solution that offers superior maneuverability, performance, and comfort while meeting the fuel efficiency and reliability standards that customers demand,” said Rohan Barua, Vice President, North America Sales, Global Channel, and Aftermarket at Allison Transmission. “Allison is proud to be the exclusive transmission solution on the F-Series platform.”

Allison fully auto gearboxes are also available with the automaker’s N-Series Class 5 truck models.

The upcoming trucks feature a low-cab forward design offering more cargo space in comparison to conventional cab models. They are more versatile as their body application ranges from heavier to bulkier cargo loads as per the requirements of the customers.

The 2022 F-Series is now available at the brand’s 300 dealerships, located in all 50 states of North America. .
