Isuzu trucks posted what the company calls its highest-ever market share at 56.1%, backed by 6,880 registrations, up from the previous high of 47.1% in 2023. And as per usual, the light-duty Elf did the heavy lifting, the compact truck chalked up 6,362 units, making it Malaysia’s best-selling truck for the 16th consecutive year, and accounting for 92.5% of all Isuzu trucks sold in 2025.
Isuzu also highlighted its medium-duty Forward range, which it positions as a more versatile workhorse that can do city runs and longer highway duty without drama. The company says the Forward repeated its 2023 performance by remaining Malaysia’s best-selling medium-duty truck in 2025, with 494 units registered.
On the pick-up front, the Isuzu D-Max put in what the company describes as an “outstanding” year, strengthening its position to take a 15% share of the pick-up truck segment, enough to lift Isuzu to an overall No.2 position nationwide.
Isuzu Malaysia CEO Tomoyuki Yamaguchi credited the result to the basics, understanding customer needs, dealer responsiveness, and after-sales support.
“As a global leader in the mobility industry, Isuzu intimately understands the needs and requirements of our customers. Our established roots in providing a product portfolio that completely satisfies customers’ requirements remains a key factor for Isuzu’s continued popularity here in Malaysia.
“The ability of a well-positioned dealership network that quickly adapted to the changing demands of customers and an after-sales backbone system that is fully focused on keeping our customers constantly moving have all played a part in the brand’s growing popularity,” said Yamaguchi.
Still, Isuzu’s tone here is also a quiet admission of where the next fight is. The company says its immediate focus is on improving ownership experience, particularly after-sales, with the aim of cutting downtime through faster service turnaround and better parts availability.
“While we witnessed a 12 percent intake increase in our after-sales business last year, we believe that through improved services, quicker turn-around visits and greater parts availability, we will be able to provide our customers with even more seamless maintenance visits thereby providing them with less down time and more enriched drives,” added Yamaguchi.
