Kia 2022 sales are mainly driven by SUVs; check the full details

KUALA LUMPUR: This past week we have seen sales figures of several automakers both for the local and international markets. Adding to the list now is Kia delivered more than 2,903,619 vehicles in 2022, all this despite the global semiconductor shortage.

The biggest contenders in Kia’s sales for 2022 were its SUV models, the Sportage, the Seltos, and the Sorento. The below gives full details of the automaker’s model-wise sales -

Kia Sportage	452,068 units
Kia Seltos	310,418 units
Kia Sorento	222,570 units

In totality, the three Kia SUVs contributed 33% of the automaker’s global sales past year. As for the sales figures of other Kia models, the company did not reveal any information however, it did say that nearly 80k units of the EV6 were delivered, a 39% hike over 2021.

For 2023, Kia aims to sell 3.2 million units; most of which it says will be fulfilled by its SUVs and soon-to-launch EV9 e-SUV.

In Malaysia, the official distributor of Kia, Bermax Auto will soon launch Kia Sorento; it will be the automaker’s second locally-assembled car after the Carnival.
