Kia teases its upcoming mid-size SUV, the Sportage

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently that Kia introduced its fully-electric crossover, the EV6 and now the automaker is all set to move on to its next project, the new Sportage. The mid-size SUV is set to arrive in the second half of the year and here we have some of its teaser images. These shots give us a hint about the car’s exterior silhouette and cabin layout.

Now in its fifth generation, the Sportage has gained a load of sales numbers for the brand and with the soon arrival of new model things only seem to get better. The upcoming Sportage benefits from the brand’s latest ‘Opposites United’ design language that is a superb combo of sculptural shapes and sharp stylistic elements.

Furthermore, the car’s side profile reflects a strong, muscular stance. A few notable details include crisp character lines running across its length.

Though we fall short on the car’s front and rear images, Kia assures the new Sportage to create a thought-provoking statement. It’ll showcase design elements like black-grille graphics, muscular shoulder lines, sleek tail lamps, a new Kia logo, and a Sportage emblem.

The cabin teaser image released by the automaker showcases it to be a driver-oriented space loaded with the latest technology, premium material, and more. The highlight here is the integrated curved display that covers approximately half of the Sportage dashboard.

The Sportage dashboard seems to be inspired by the EV6, wherein the curved display unit had two screens, each measuring 12.3-inches.

The all-new Sportage will first go in-sale in South Korea, followed by other international markets.
