Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 on the road
KUALA LUMPUR: Unveiled for the first time at Pebble Beach and then at the Monterey Car Week, the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is now seen taking on the road. And as per Lamborghini, there is a reason, because otherwise there is no reason to look at the pictures of the reborn Countach.
In case you missed it, the reborn Countach is the automaker’s ode to the classic Italian car which is truly the perfect definition of a ‘bedroom wall poster’.
We totally get it that not everyone is interested in the sold-out new Countach, but if otherwise, it’s quite something, right?
The Countach LPI 800-4 is a commemorative edition and we get a lot of information from the name itself. For instance, ‘LP’ stands for the engine’s Longitudinale Posteriore layout, meaning the powerplant sits parallel to the length of the car and near the rear. The following ‘I’ stands for Ibrido, meaning hybrid in Italian. Moving on, 800 relates to the expected output, while ‘4’ represents the car’s four-wheel-drive configuration.
Based on the Lamborghini Sian, the Countach benefits from the RM 14 million worth of hybrid powertrain. This 6.5-litre V12 mill pumps out a maximum power of 770 bhp along with a 48v e-motor powered by supercapacitors, situated between the gearbox and V12. Together the mill and e-motor generate 804 bhp.
Furthermore, the car comes fitted with a 7-speed ISR gearbox and a supercapacitor that offers three times more power compared to a lithium-ion battery of the same weight.
On the performance side, the car completes the century sprint in 2.8 seconds and the double-century track in 8.6 seconds. It attains a top speed of 355 kmph.
There’s more to it like the car’s strong resemblance with the original, which undoubtedly is a Lambo classic. It gets the hallmark Periscopio lines flaring from the roof toward the rear.
Limited to just 112 units, the LPI 800-4 is priced at $2.64 million (around RM 11,081,400). And guess what? Each unit is already pre-sold and the deliveries are expected to commence from Q1 of 2023.
