Lepas unveils 2-door shooting brake concept in China, the AURA

KUALA LUMPUR: Lepas recently unveiled a first-ever concept vehicle at its inaugural LEPAS Global Elegant Lifestyle Week in China, called ‘AURA.’ Inspired by the brand's “Natural Energy” philosophy, the concept car brings Leopard Aesthetics that combine distinctive proportions, new lighting and personalisation options to showcase the Future of Elegant Mobility.

Lepas AURA concept: Key highlights

• The Lepas AURA is a two-door shooting brake with a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a wide stance.
• It boasts a distinctive front-end design that combines the grille and air intakes into one clean black surface, creating a simpler, unified look. 
• The AURA gets Lepas’s signature Leopard-inspired headlamps and a rear elliptical screen that can display customised tail light patterns.

• The front digital lighting panel allows customised graphics, lighting, and animations for a personalised look. 
• Lepas introduced the AURA in three colours that draw inspiration from natural landscapes at different times of day.
• Dawn Pearl takes inspiration from the soft pink hues of sunrise in Tahiti. Bacalar Blue reflects the deep blue and turquoise waters of Bacalar Lagoon, and Provence Twilight is inspired by lavender fields at sunset,

Lepas chief designer Ivan Dulanovic said, "In our philosophy, form and function are never two separate things. The Aura's stance follows the running leopard; it is lean, forward and efficient. The many air winds this car has guide the air through and over the car, helping to create downforce across the wide and powerful body of the car. The air itself helped shape this car, so to speak.”

“It is our interpretation of the leopard's power. It is not exaggerated and it is certainly not decorated, it is simply present. And that is how we imagine that strength looks when it doesn’t need to prove itself,” added Ivan Dulanovic.

Overall, the concept offers a glimpse of the automaker’s design direction and likely previews a new non-SUV model, possibly the upcoming Lepas L3. We will have to wait for further details. 

Lepas to make Malaysian debut soon 

Backed by Chery Group, Lepas is expected to officially enter the Malaysian market soon. The brand has signed distribution agreements with 20 key partners in Malaysia. Lepas Malaysia social media handles have been up and running for months, generating buzz among enthusiasts and potential buyers. Lepas’s upcoming models in Malaysia are - L8, L6, and L4.
