Malaysia-bound Lepas launches new EV in Indonesia, the E4
KUALA LUMPUR: While Malaysians are still waiting for Lepas’s official debut in the country, Chery’s sub-brand has just expanded its lineup in Indonesia. The automaker has launched the E4 electric SUV (also known as L4 EV) at the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026.

- The E4 is a compact electric SUV, measuring 4,420 mm in length, 1,817 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, and spans a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm, which makes it suitable for urban commuting as well as occasional longer journeys.
- In terms of design, the new Lepas EV features the brand’s signature “Leopard Aesthetics" design philosophy, with a sleek coupe-inspired silhouette and a grille-less front fascia. Other key exterior highlights include - slim LED headlights, L-shaped daytime running lights, and dual-tone alloy wheels.
- Built on the Intelligent LEX Platform, the Lepas E4 EV is powered by a single electric motor that generates a maximum power of 215 hp and a peak torque of 275 Nm.
Photo from Lepas- Feeding the motor is a 65.05 kWh battery pack, which offers a cruising range of 500 km (on the NEDC cycle). The EV supports up to 200 kW DC fast charging, enabling the EV to charge from 30 to 80% in just about 22 minutes.
- The feature pack comprises: a large infotainment unit, a digital instrument cluster, three driving modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport), and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
Upcoming Lepas models in Malaysia
Back in January, Lepas announced its big plans for Malaysia, with a target of establishing 30 outlets by the end of 2026. Earlier this month, the company previewed the L4 EV, L6 and L8 at the Kuala Lumpur Polo Club. The brand is now targeting its official Malaysian launch by the end of the year.
