Maserati teased its first fully-electric car, the GranTurismo Folgore

KUALA LUMPUR: Just like other supercar makers, Maserati is also heading towards achieving its zero-emission goals. The Italian automaker aims to electrify its entire range by mid of decade with the ditching of internal combustion engines completely by 2030. Maserati has also announced a new badge for its electric cars i.e. Folgore, which means lightning in Italian.

    In terms of technical setup, the upcoming Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will borrow several Formula E-derived systems such as an 800-volt electrical system and a triple-motor drivetrain setup (one on the front axle, and two in front).

    Maserati confirmed that the GT Folgore will have a maximum power output of more than 1200 hp with a century sprint of less than 2.xx seconds and a top speed of 300 kmph. With that much grunt and acceleration, the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will not only become the brand’s most powerful model ever created but also the fastest full-electric car in the luxury market.

    The powertrain will be mated by a large “bone battery that will support top-class DC fast charging capabilities. The supercar will also feature lightweight tech and best-in-class handling capabilities, confirms Maserati.

    After unveiling the GT Folgore, the Italian automaker will introduce the electric equivalent of the upcoming Grecale, the MC20 super sports car, Quattroporte sports sedan, and Levante SUV.

    Maserati EV strategy is a part of the Stellantis “Dare Forward 2030” strategic plan announced on March 1, 2022.
