Tesla Roadster EV to make global debut on October 1

KUALA LUMPUR: Tesla is finally ready to introduce the production-spec version of the second-gen Roadster EV, first showcased as a concept in November 2017. The American EV maker recently dropped a teaser of the upcoming electric sports car on its official social media handle, announcing that the global debut will be held on October 1, 2026.

Tesla Roadster: What do we know so far?

• The teaser reveals a glimpse of its rear design, showcasing a large rear wing, full-width LED tail lights, and four horizontally arranged nozzles.
• These nozzles could be the “rocket thrusters” originally set to be included in the ‘SpaceX option package,' which dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering.
• The road-ready Tesla EV looks radically different from the concept revealed nine years ago, featuring sharper, Cybertruck-esque lines. 

• The concept model was claimed to have a maximum range of 998 km, along with a staggering 0-96 kmph sprint of 1.9 seconds and a top speed of more than 402 kmph. The SpaceX package could reduce the century sprint time to just 1.1 seconds. 
• Earlier this year, the automaker trademarked two logos for the new Roadster - a stylised ‘ROADSTER’ wordmark and a Roadster silhouette logo with a minimalist outline of the vehicle made from three flowing curved lines.

The production timeline of the second-gen Tesla Roadster has been pushed back several times over the last nine years. Last year in November, Elon Musk said the EV would be launched in April 2026; however, that timeline was not met. 

The global debut of the all-new Tesla Roadster will take place in Waco, Texas.
