Mercedes-Benz C-Class PHEV teased in Malaysia; launch imminent

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz is set to expand the C-Class lineup in Malaysia with the addition of a new plug-in hybrid trim, the C350e. The German automaker recently teased the upcoming electrified model on its social media handle with a caption that reads, “The best of all worlds is coming together in one place.”

The post also revealed that the Mercedes-Benz C350e will be shown at Plaza Arkadia in Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur from February 23 to 25, 2024.

For specifications, we can refer to the neighbouring market where the plug-in hybrid C-Class comes powered by a 1.9-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder gasoline mill and 129 hp/440 Nm electric motor. The setup produces a combined output of 313 hp and 550 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Another major component of the plug-in hybrid setup is a 25.4 kWh battery, which offers an all-electric driving range of 100 km (on the WLTP cycle).

The C350e is likely to be identical to its stablemates - C200 and C300, in terms of dimensions, which are 4,751 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1,438 mm tall and span a 2,865 mm long wheelbase.

The electrified C-Class equipment kit may comprise a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an 11.9-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multifunctional sports steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, Lane Tracking assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, Cruise Control, and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic.
