Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched AMG C63 S and C63 S Coupe facelifts

KUALA LUMPUR:  The updated versions of the Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 S sedan and coupe have been launched in the country. The models were globally revealed last year in the month of March. There are a few styling changes on the outside that are noticeable on both the models including the front AMG Panamericana grille and a single slat design on the air inlet at the A-wing lower apron. Earlier it was a diamond mesh design. Additionally, there is a rear diffuser with four vertical fins instead of three, seems to be an expensive add-on.
 

The AMG C63 S sedan version gets 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, while the coupe version gets 19-inch AMG Performance five dual-spoke forged wheels. Aside from this, both models come with a similar set of exterior equipment including multibeam LED headlamps with adaptive high beam assist plus, red-coloured brake calipers, AMG Exterior Carbon-fibre package, AMG Night package and AMG lip spoiler.

Inside, both models get a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch centre display screen, which is linked to a COMAND online infotainment system with Burmester surround sound system. The sedan model gets dual-tone Nappa leather upholstery as standard and platinum white pearl and black themes as options. The coupe is more stylish with red pepper and black theme option.  

Additionally, both models get Nappa leather/Dinamica microfibre wrapped AMG performance steering, head-up display with ambient lighting, Energizing comfort control and AMG performance power seats with 4-way lumbar support and memory function as standard. Moreover, the sedan gets Thermotronic auto climate control system with rear vents and the coupe gets Thermatic system, depending on the structure of both the cars.

Talking about the engine, there is an M177 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo petrol engine that powers both cars that produce 510 PS of max power at 5,500-6,250 rpm and 700 Nm of peak torque at 2,500-5,000 rpm, mated to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G auto gearbox. The power is transferred to the rear wheels. There is also a rear-axle limited-slip differential controlled electronically. Both cars sport an identical top speed of 290 kmph, with coupe sprinting to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds and the sedan taking 4.3 seconds for the same task.

The AMG C63 S cars come with the AMG Dynamic Select system with six different drive modes including Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race, and Individual. This system gets an in-built dynamic handling control as well which is combined with car’s Electronic Stability Programme to distribute torque uniformly to the rear wheels with the help of four settings, Basic, Advanced, Pro, and Master. Additionally, the cars get the AMG Traction Control, which enables the driver to select the amount of intervention it wants from the Traction Control while the ESP is switched off.

Other standard driving aids include the AMG Ride Control Suspension with adaptive dampers and steel springs, dynamic engine mounts and an AMG Performance exhaust system with selectable flaps. Also, there is the AMG Track Pace that records and analyzes 80 vehicle-specific data sets to let you know everything about your driving (like speed, acceleration etc) in detail.

On the safety front, both models get the Driving Assistance Package that features Active Lane Keeping Assist, Pilot Distance Distronic, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, Hands-free Access, Keyless-Go, Active Blind Spot Monitoring and Autonomous Emergency Braking System.

As far as pricing is concerned, the sedan is priced at RM768,888 and the coupe at RM820,888 (both prices are on-the-road without insurance).
