Over 1,000 Isuzu D-Max owners join Merdeka Convoy across Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: More than 1,000 Isuzu D-Max owners marked Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day with a convoy that rolled out from 39 authorised Isuzu dealerships nationwide.

At the flag-off in Seremban, Isuzu Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Tomoyuki Yamaguchi praised the sense of togetherness shown by the participants.
“The Isuzu Merdeka convoy is quickly establishing itself as an amazing platform for our customers to showcase their patriotism and pride. It is truly heartwarming to see Malaysian people from various walks of life sharing a common love of the country and enjoying its proudest moment,” Yamaguchi said.
Participants didn’t just drive — each convoy stop was filled with family-friendly activities. These included orchard visits, picnics, sightseeing at popular landmarks, durian feasts, island hopping, and even extreme games.
Driving experience and local tourism
Kenichi Kudo, Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu’s Light Commercial Vehicle Division, said the convoy was a way to enjoy both the celebration and Malaysia’s diverse attractions.
“Apart from the opportunity to celebrate the unity of Merdeka with fellow Malaysians, the Isuzu Merdeka Convoy was also an excellent opportunity for owners to appreciate the sheer beauty of the country while enjoying the absolute pleasure of driving their Isuzu D-Max,” Kudo added.
According to Isuzu, the convoy underlined why the D-Max has become a popular pick-up choice — combining reliability and fuel efficiency while doubling up as a capable companion for everyday life and family outings.
The current Isuzu D-Max range in Malaysia is made up of six variants: Low Ride, Single Cab, Standard, AutoPlus, Premium, and the flagship X-Terrain. Prices start from around RM92,200 for the entry-level Low Ride and go up to RM161,938 for the top-spec X-Terrain.
Engine options include the familiar 1.9-litre Blue Power turbodiesel and a more powerful 3.0-litre unit for the flagship model, paired with manual or automatic transmissions depending on variant.
Notable features across the lineup include terrain command 4×4 with rear differential lock, up to 800 mm water-wading depth, modern infotainment with screens up to 9 inches, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and advanced safety aids like ESC, ABS, and multiple airbags.
Higher-end trims also add more premium touches and off-road styling, while entry-level versions cater to businesses with simpler specs.
