RM 300 fine for those who litter from vehicles, says Royal Malaysia Police

KUALA LUMPUR: In today’s day and age when so much importance is paid to cleanliness and hygiene, littering from your car is a big no-no. And to remind the dear countryman of the same, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has decided to take significant steps against the defaulters. They have in fact, declared ejecting waste out of a moving car/vehicle a crime.

PDRM declared the information on their official Facebook page last Sunday. In the said post they said that offenders would be punished under Rule 52 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/1959) and would be charged a maximum penalty of RM 300.

The PDRM Facebook post further elaborated on the issue saying waste thrown on the road is not only bad for mother nature but can put the lives of others using the road in danger, as it increases the risk of accidents. The PDRM advised the riders to collect the trash in their vehicle before throwing it away in bins provided at the rest stops.

litter on the road

We too personally believe that ejecting rubbish from your vehicles is an irresponsible thing to do and must be checked immediately. Wast on the roads is not only unsightly and unsanitary but also dangerous. There are garbage bins on the gas stations for a reason, let’s commit putting then on use.

Remember folks, whatever you need to dump is not important than someone’s life. So, collect, wait, and dispose of it in the bin.
