Weekly wrap-up: Suzuki Fronx launched, 2026 Proton Saga launch date confirmed, Alfa Romeo makes a comeback, and more

The Malaysian automotive market witnessed the launch of the new Suzuki Fronx compact SUV this week, followed by the grand comeback of the Italian performance brand, Alfa Romeo. Additionally, Proton announced the launch date for the new Saga, while Leapmotor and TQ Wuling opened order bookings for the upcoming EVs, the B10 and Bingo. In the meantime, a couple of big unveilings and announcements remain in the headlines in the global market.

Malaysia automotive market: Key updates

Suzuki Fronx Hybrid launched in Malaysia at RM 147,888

Naza Eastern Motors has launched the all-new Fronx as a fully-imported SUV in Malaysia. Priced at RM 147,888 (on the road, without insurance), the Suzuki Fronx is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C hybrid engine generating a maximum power of 103 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Also part of the kit is a 12V 10Ah lithium ion battery, enabling the vehicle to offer a combined driving range of more than 700 km. Key features include - LED multi-reflector headlamps, LED rear light bar, 9-inch infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, head-up display, Suzuki Safety Support ADAS pack, paddle shifters, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera system. The early-bird promo (running till Dec 31) offers a rebate of RM 4,000 or a free Suzuki Genuine Accessories Package.

2026 Proton Saga launch next week, 10k units booked in 5 days

The latest avatar of the iconic Proton Saga is set to launch in Malaysia on November 27. Touted as a symbol of national progress, the new-gen Saga has bagged more than 10,000 bookings in just 5 days of opening for booking, reflecting its wide appeal in the country. Proton offers the upgraded sedan in Standard, Executive, and Premium trims, with indicative pricing ranging between RM 40k and RM 50k. Speaking of important changes, the new Saga features a new Advanced Modular Architecture platform, a next-generation style, a new 16-inch integrated dual-screen, the Level 1 Advanced Driver Assistance System, and a new 1.5-litre engine.

Alfa Romeo makes a comeback in Malaysia

The popular Italian performance brand, Alfa Romeo, has made a comeback in Malaysia after a hiatus of more than ten years. Now taken care of by DLSB Partners Sdn Bhd, Alfa Romeo’s presence in Malaysia will be anchored by a new showroom and flagship 3S centre at TREC Kuala Lumpur. The comeback models include - 

  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce (sports sedan) - It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-4 rear-wheel drive engine tuned to deliver 280 PS and 400 Nm, and a 0-100 kmph time of 5.7seconds.
  • Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce (performance SUV): It uses the same mill paired with an all-wheel-drive system for better grip and performance.

Bookings for both Alfa Romeo models are now open in Malaysia, with an expected price starting around RM 400,000

Leapmotor B10 EV bookings open in Malaysia, preliminary details out

Leapmotor is ready to launch the B10 as its second electric vehicle in Malaysia. The EV will be offered in two variants, with estimated prices ranging between RM 110,000 and RM 120,000. Set to launch in December 2025, the Leapmotor B10 is a C-segment electric SUV equipped with a 67.1-kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-claimed driving range of up to 460 km. It features striking design elements and technology both inside and out. The early bird booking promo offers an exclusive ‘LeapX100’ package worth up to RM 8,000 to the first 200 buyers.

TQ Wuling Bingo EV bookings open, launch soon

The Chinese brand Wuling made its first official appearance at the MAS 2025 with the preview of the Bingo EV, which is now set to launch in the country. The TQ Wuling Bingo is a compact EV (smaller than the Proton e.MAS 5) and will be offered in two variants - Pro and Max, equipped with a 31.9 kWh and 37.9 kWh LFP battery pack, respectively. Bookings for the TQ Wuling Bingo are now open in Malaysia, with the price expected to be around RM 100k. 

Proton rolls out the “Roar Forward, Ride Freedom” campaign

Proton has introduced an exciting “Roar Forward, Ride Freedom” campaign for the X50 buyers in collaboration with Touch ’n Go. Running from 1 November to 31 December 2025, the promo offers up to RM 500 worth of free tolls (valid for 3 months) to customers who activate the model’s factory-fitted Touch ’n Go RFID. Customers can also win additional cash prizes of up to RM 3,000 by sharing a short video of their X50 experience on TikTok.

New Mitsubishi 3S centre opens in Melaka

Mitsubishi has upgraded its Melaka outlet in Malaysia. Operated by EON Auto Mart (EAM), the outlet is now a comprehensive 3S centre with a spacious display area that can accommodate up to six Mitsubishi vehicles simultaneously.  Among the other key highlights are - a dedicated sales delivery area, 10 service bays equipped with seven hoists, free Wi-Fi, a customer lounge, and a kids’ play area. The centre is located at No. 1, Jalan Autocity 3, Melaka Autocity, Hang Tuah Jaya, 76100, Durian Tunggal, Melaka. It operates from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm (Monday to Sunday).

Keeway BX200i and RKR 250 launched in Malaysia

MForce Bike has expanded the Keeway lineup in Malaysia with the launch of two new models - BX200i and RKR 250, which herald a new era of riding power in the country. The BX200i is a sporty scooter that competes in the 150-200-cc segment, while the RKR 250 is a lightweight sportbike. The former is offered in two variants - standard and special edition (with an exclusive top box), priced at RM 7,988 and RM 8,288, respectively. The Keeway RKR 250 price tag reads RM 13,888. 

Aveta Vanguard 250 SE gets a new colour option

Malaysia’s homegrown motorcycle brand, Aveta, has launched the popular Vanguard 250 SE in a new colour option, Twilight Blue. Inspired by the changing hues of twilight skies, this new metallic finish adds a bold touch to the scooter’s adventure-touring crossover appearance. Price remains unchanged at RM 16,388 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration), with existing colours - Majestic Green and Titanium Grey continuing to be offered. In other news, Aveta Malaysia has been officially recognised by TARO as its “Global Top Sales Partner” for the Vanguard 250, which reinforces Malaysia’s position as a leading market within TARO’s global network.

Leapmotor A10 exterior images revealed ahead of debut

Leapmotor is ready to unveil its new electric SUV, the A10, at this year’s Guangzhou Motor Show in China. Ahead of that, the automaker has revealed exterior images of the EV, showcasing its crossover-like design. It features a closed front end with a trapeze-shaped air intake, oval-shaped headlamps, and a charging port on the front left fender. The Leapmotor A10 is a compact SUV, which will rival the likes of the BYD Atto 2 (also known as Yuan Up) globally. It is expected to start around CNY 80,000 (RM 46,740) - CNY 100,000 (RM 58,425) in China. 

MG S6 EV debuts in the UK, price revealed

MG Motor has revealed its new C-segment electric SUV, the S6, in the UK, which competes against the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. The MG S6 is offered in three variants - SE Long Range, Trophy Long Range, and Trophy Dual Motor, with prices ranging between £37,995 (RM 206,444) and £43,995 (RM 239,044). The top-spec model is equipped with a dual motor setup and a 77 kWh NCM battery pack, offering a driving range of 484 km. The EV features an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.27 and is equipped with a 12.8-inch infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch driver display, MG Pilot driver-assistance system and several other advanced bits. 

Mitsubishi Destinator launched in the Philippines

Mitsubishi has expanded its lineup in the Philippines with the launch of a new 7-seater SUV, the Destinator. Based on the brand’s DST concept, the SUV boasts a powerful and futuristic design along with the latest cutting-edge technological and safety features. It is available in three variants - GLX, GLS, and GT, with prices ranging between PHP 1.389 million (RM 97,891) and PHP 1.929 million (RM 135,832). All the variants are powered by a 1.5-litre 4 in-line turbocharged engine that kicks out a maximum power output of 163 PS and a peak torque of 250 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission.

All-new fourth-gen Nissan Navara makes its official debut

The all-new fourth-generation Nissan Navara has made its official debut in the global market. Set to go on sale in Australia at the end of the first quarter of 2026, the new Navara is built on a new platform shared with the Mitsubishi Triton. The upgraded pickup truck features a rugged yet refined look, advanced driver-assistance systems and a suspension optimised for handling tough terrains. It is powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine that produces a maximum power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 470 Nm. The engine is paired with an advanced four-wheel-drive system and delivers an excellent fuel efficiency of 7.7 litres per 100 km (WLTC mode),
