The latest Saga is built on Proton’s new Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA) — its first model to be fully designed, engineered, and validated in Malaysia. The project reflects Proton’s growing technical maturity and its strengthened R&D capability since joining forces with Geely in 2018.
Importantly, Proton holds full Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for this model, a sign that the company is now capable of developing cars independently while preparing for the next generation of intelligent and semi-autonomous vehicles.
“The All-New Saga showcases how Malaysian engineering has matured — transforming Proton from a symbol of national pride into a global automotive contender,” said Dato' Ir. Abdul Rashid bin Musa, Deputy CEO of Proton.
Carrying the tagline “Intelligence That Thrills”, the new Saga revisits Proton’s I.C.O.N. framework — Impressive Performance, Comprehensive Safety, Optimised Intelligence, and Next-Gen Style — updating each for today’s drivers.

Powering the All-New Saga is the new i-GT 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Proton says fuel efficiency is now at 4.9L/100 km (MDC cycle), while the addition of Electric Power Steering (EPS) improves low-speed manoeuvrability without compromising that familiar Proton ride and handling balance.
Comprehensive Safety
The car now packs six airbags, PROTON’s Reinforced Safety Structure (RESS) with Hot Press Formed components, and a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with nine safety functions — a notable jump in safety for Malaysia’s A-segment.
Optimised Intelligence
Inside, the All-New Saga gets a major tech upgrade with a 16-inch Integrated Dual Screen, combining the instrument cluster and infotainment display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now included, alongside thoughtful touches like auto headlamps, Follow-Me-Home lighting, and headlamp levelling.
Next-Gen Style
Visually, it’s still recognisably a Saga, but one that’s more grown-up. Full LED Projector Headlamps, new LED taillights, and the distinctive ‘Sulaman Songket’ front grille motif give it local character, while two-tone 15-inch alloys round off the look.

Warming up for the launch
In true Proton fashion, the brand isn’t just unveiling a car — it’s celebrating the people who made the Saga an icon. A nationwide pre-launch tour called “IKONIK TOGETHER-GATHER” will run from 14 to 23 November 2025, blending food, lifestyle, and community events across several regions. Expect local cuisines, live activities, and KOL appearances as Proton brings the Saga closer to everyday Malaysians.
As the Saga approaches its 40th year, Proton is clearly sending a message: the car that started it all is ready for the next generation.
