SAIC Motor Malaysia partners with transport ministry to boost road safety in ASEAN

KUALA LUMPUR:  SAIC Motor Malaysia has stepped up its commitment to improving road safety in the ASEAN region, with Malaysia at the forefront of its efforts.

In a pledge ceremony held alongside the Ministry of Transport, the company outlined its focus on raising safety standards and aligning with global benchmarks to create safer roads and a more sustainable future.

“Safety is not just a priority—it is a shared responsibility. By working together, SAIC Motor Malaysia drives progress, enhances vehicle safety standards, and strengthens Malaysia’s position as a leader in road safety and sustainable mobility,” said Emory QiFeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia.

The pledge isn't just symbolic; it signals a hands-on approach to tackling road safety issues in Malaysia. SAIC Motor Malaysia aims to actively support the country’s initiatives under ASEAN NCAP, a key platform for improving vehicle safety across the region.

These efforts go beyond compliance, aiming to instill confidence in Malaysia’s automotive industry and attract further investment.

What makes this move stand out is its dual focus: raising safety standards while tying them into Malaysia’s sustainable development goals.

This isn’t just about safer cars—it’s about creating safer communities and a future-ready automotive ecosystem.

By partnering with the Ministry of Transport, SAIC Motor Malaysia positions itself as more than just a carmaker.

It’s taking on the role of a key player in shaping a safer, smarter mobility landscape for Malaysia and the region.

This collaboration shows that road safety isn’t just a government issue or a corporate checkbox; it’s a shared mission that can drive real change when approached with urgency and focus.

With the addition of its road safety pledge and a showcase of exciting new models at KLIMS 2024, MG Malaysia is solidifying its ambitions for the local market.

This dual approach highlights the brand’s commitment to not only advancing vehicle safety but also delivering cars that cater to the evolving needs of Malaysian drivers.

At the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, held from December 5 to 11 at MITEC, MG unveiled three highly anticipated models—the MG7, MG3 Hybrid+, and MG ZS Hybrid+.
