Say hello to the track-only 2021 KTM X-BOW GTX
KUALA LUMPUR: The Australian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM, has introduced a new track machine that is based on its X-BOW structure. Named the GTX, it is a full-carbon fibre, lightweight, inline-five powered car that aims to serve track day drivers and professional race teams alike.
Priced at €230,000 (approx 1,121,017), the two-seater KTM runs on the Audi's 2.5-litre turbo unit that pumps out a maximum power of 506 hp and a peak torque of 649 Nm. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed transmission via a limited-slip differential and a racing clutch. While the original air-cooled intercooler remains intact, KTM has added new injection valves, custom software, and a new exhaust system.

KTM has not revealed any acceleration figures, however, the 0 to 100 kmph time is expected to fall within a three-second timeframe. On the braking front, it gets 378 mm discs with six-piston callipers and 355 mm discs with four-piston callipers at the front and rear, respectively. It comes with fully adjustable suspension and traction control and ABS setting can be tuned to driver preference and track conditions.
Furthermore, it has a hypercar-rivalling power-to-weight ratio of 506 hp per tonne and has the Formula 3-influenced X-BOW chassis. It can compete in GT racing as it is homologated to FIA Appendix J level.

Ensuring competitiveness in racing events, the GTX is equipped with a 120-litre FT3 safety fuel tank, hinting at fewer visits to the pump. KTM claims that the Audi sourced motor is mounted in the centre of the high-strength tubular steel frame and is the most efficient solution in ease of use for new application and delivery of performance.
Michale Wolfling, KTMs managing director, said, "In addition to the desire for the fastest lap time, the desire for the greatest possible safety is always at the top of the priority list for all pilots."

KTM also reports, "The GTX drives further respectively longer than the competition on every track day, but also on every long-distance race, and the low weight naturally also reduces wear and tear and thus the running costs significantly,"
The KTM X-BOW GTX is open for bookings. Anyone with pockets deep-enough is free to place an order.
