Subaru XV gets updates for 2021 in the European market

KUALA LUMPUR: Back in June, Subaru introduced the mid-life update of the second-generation XV crossover for the U.S market, where it is sold as the Crosstrek. And now it’s the turn of the Old Continent to receive an updated version. So what’s all-new on the European-spec Subaru XV for 2021, have a look.

In terms of exterior styling, the new model gets a number of tweaks, including a revamped front bumper, gunmetal accents on the front grille, redesigned side mirrors, and new badging. Also, the LED foglights are surrounded by the new bezels. In addition, the automatic LED lights now come as standard equipment.

The updated XV runs on newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels and also gets two new paint options -  Plasma Yellow Pearl and Horizon Blue Pearl.

Inside the cabin, the standard features of the all-new Subaru XV include eight-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, keyless entry, push-button start, and heated front seats. In the higher trims, the XV specs sheet also comprises leather seats, satellite navigation, eight-way power adjustments for the driver’s seat, and a sunroof.

All the trims of the new XV are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Boxer engine producing 148 hp of maximum power and 196 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an electric motor generating 16 hp, Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

The mechanical configuration also features a dual-function X-Mode with hill descent control with two settings - Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud. The system optimizes AWD performance in difficult road or weather conditions.

On the safety front, Subaru has added a 180-degree front-view monitor for tracking blind spots, and an EyeSight safety suite.

The 2021 Subaru XV will be available to order in the UK from March 1 at a starting price of £31,665 (RM 174,843). Talking about the local market, the price of the pre-facelift model starts at RM 112,138 and goes all the way to RM 133,788.
