Suzuki Fronx Hybrid bookings open in Malaysia; launch soon

KUALA LUMPUR: After teasing the model in August, Suzuki Cars Malaysia has now started accepting orders for its upcoming SUV, the Fronx. The automaker made the announcement through a social media post earlier today, which also revealed that the SUV will feature a hybrid drivetrain.

The Suzuki Fronx is a compact SUV that made its global debut in India back in 2023. Since then, it has launched in key ASEAN markets such as Indonesia and the Philippines, with Malaysia set to follow later this year.

While we are waiting for official specs to drop, it’s a great idea to look at what the upcoming Suzuki SUV offers in neighbouring markets to get an early glimpse of what to expect.

Suzuki Fronx Hybrid: What to expect?

Sporty design 

Built to impress, the Fronx features a sporty design that combines a strong SUV character with coupe styling. The front fascia incorporates a solid grille with a chrome bar and a split-design lamp, while the double fenders extend from the front to the rear, giving it a muscular look.

Mild-hybrid drivetrain under the bonnet

As mentioned above, the Malaysia-spec Suzuki Fronx will come powered by a hybrid mill, just like other markets. The mild hybrid drivetrain combines a 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15C Dual Jet engine with SHVS mild hybrid and produces a maximum power of 101 PS and a peak torque of 135 Nm. It is expected to be combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The engine delivers high fuel efficiency, low emissions, strong output and a torquey performance, claims Suzuki.

Strong safety net

The SUV comes packed with six airbags and the Suzuki Safety Support ADAS package, which comprises adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, weaving alert, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, high beam assist, and a collision-mitigating braking system.

As for the Suzuki Fronx pricing, we can refer to the Indonesian market, where the SUV costs between IDR 259 million (RM 67,265) and IDR 321.9 million (RM 83,601).
