Thailand gets the all-new GWM Ora Lightning Cat EV

KUALA LUMPUR: Great Wall Motors sub-brand Ora has launched the all-new electric compact sedan in Thailand, called the 07 (known as the Lightning Cat in China). It is offered in two variants - Long Range and Performance, priced at THB 1,299,000 (RM 173,196) and THB 1,499,000 (RM 199,863).

    Exterior 

    The Chinese mid-size liftback has a smooth body with a sleek roofline, small round headlamps, and retractable door handles. Parts of the standard exterior kit are LED headlights, daytime running lights, a panoramic glass roof, LED tail lights, and 18-inch alloys. With the top-spec Performance trim, the customers also get larger 19-inch alloys and a retractable electric spoiler. The latter deploys upon opening the door, unlocking the car, or reaching a speed of 70 kmph and beyond.

    Dimensionally, the sedan is 4,871 mm long, 1,862 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall and spans a 2,870 mm wheelbase

    Powertrain, range, and charging 

    The Ora 07 Long Range runs on a front-mounted single-motor setup that delivers a maximum power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 340 Nm. The motor is fed by an 83.5 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery, which offers a range of 640 km (on the NEDC cycle).

    The Ora 07 Performance, on the other hand, is fitted with a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, which is good for making 408 PS and 680 Nm. The battery remains the same as the Long Range trim; however, the range is slightly less at 550 km due to its higher performance.

    The key interior highlights of the Ora 07 are -

    • 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit
    • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support
    • Electrically-adjustable front seats
    • Ambient lighting system

    • Automatic air-conditioning system.
    • Head-up display (Performance)
    • Driver’s memory seat (Performance)
    • Ventilated and message front seats (Performance)

    Depending on the variant picked, the safety kit of the EV comprises intelligent cruise control, traffic jam assist, door opening warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera system, and automatic parking feature.
