This is the ultimate track-only Ford GT, the limited edition GT Mk IV

KUALA LUMPUR: Ford Performance and Multimatic are out with yet another iteration of the standard Ford GT whose production will come to an end in the next couple of weeks. Called the GT Mk IV, the track-only Ford is limited to only 67 units, each priced at $1.7 million.

The Limited Edition Ford GT Mk IV pays homage to the GT40 Mk IV that finished in the top four positions at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1967. As for the new GT Mk IV, it is the second track-only variant of the current GT, the first one was called the 2019 Mk II.

The recently introduced GT Mk IV with its unique twin-turbo EcoBoost powertrain, racing gearbox, aerodynamic exterior design, and chassis with a longer wheelbase, delivers an unconstrained performance.

New Ford GT Mk IV: Key highlights

• Reworked twin-turbo Ecoboost V6 mill with a larger but undisclosed displacement to pump out more than 800 hp of power
• The standard dual-clutch transmission is replaced by a racing gearbox

• Unique carbon fiber bodywork with careful management of the airflow through, over, and around the car
• The car offers improved downforce with its expanded front fenders, stretched barge boards behind the wheels, massive rear wing, and long tail

• Some significant exterior revisions include - headlamps reduced to C-shaped running lamps, louvers with more area to eject hot air, taller & wider intercooler vents
• The engines at Multimatic have also stretched the car’s wheelbase (no specifics provided)
