Three heavily customized units of Toyota Tundra on display at 2021 SEMA show
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota is putting up an impressive display at the 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, with not, not two, but three different customized truck concepts based on one of its much-acclaimed trucks, the Toyota Tundra. The three concepts are namely Toyota TRD Desert Chase Tundra, Toyota Tundra Accessories and Toyota Tundra Overlapping Concept.
Toyota TRD Desert Chase Tundra
Designed as a support vehicle for racing on off-road terrains, the Toyota TRD Desert Chase Tundra is based on the recently revealed third-generation model. The concept was brought to life by Marty Schwerter at the Toyota Motorsports Garage. The modifications of this concept include a TRD-designed long-travel suspension, 18-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels sourced from Method Race Wheels, 37-inch General Tire Grabber all-terrain tyres and wide-body kits. However, there are no changes to its 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine.
Toyota Tundra Accessories concept
The simplest looking of the three concepts, the Toyota Tundra Accessories concept is essentially the recently unveiled third-generation Toyota Tundra with several official accessories one can purchase right from the showroom. This kit will be on sale once the Tundra will be officially put on sale in 2022. Finished in a red paint shade, this concept model displayed at the 2021 SEMA show has been blessed with several officially available add-ons like TRD skid plate, TRD aluminium running boards, dash camera, bed extender, Tundra bed mat, two swing-out storage boxes in the bed, folding hard tonneau cover, console safe and TRD off-road wheel and tire package. It also comes with a 3-inch TRD lift kit, which increases ground clearance by 2.6-inches, approach angle by 5 degrees, departure angle by 1 degree and break-over angle by 2 degrees.
Toyota Tundra Overlapping concept
Designed in collaboration with Cruiser Outfits, the Toyota Tundra Overallping concept is based on the second-generation Tundra, which will be replaced by the all-new third-generation model in 2022. The model gets extensive modifications, the list of which consists of Old Man Emu BP-51 adjustable suspension system with Old Man Emu upper control arms and Dakar leaf springs for the rear suspension, ARB Summit Combo Bar with fog lamps, Ultra HD skid plate system, Expedition One dual swing rear bumper system, rocker protection/rock sliders and Yakima rooftop tent.
