Toyota Land Cruiser cross 10 million unit global sales mark
KUALA LUMPUR: Land Cruiser is one of the top-selling vehicles of the Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota. And after 68 years in the business, it has achieved global sales mark of 10 million units.

This car is not only the longest selling model and is a vital part of the brand’s DNA. The Land Cruiser made its debut in 1951 as a patrolling vehicle for Japan’s National Police Reserve, thanks to its capability to tackle the harsh terrain. Moreover, the carmaker was able to refine its Land Cruiser concept at the time of the Korean conflict and was ready with a model that could be exported when the restrictions removed that year.

Land Cruiser gained a new model that made its debut after the great success of the first generation, and that model was known as the 20 Series. It was updated to offer more comfort as it was meant for civilian use rather than the military use.
The famous reliability and refinement of the Land Cruiser were cast during the launch of the second-generation 20 Series. The carmaker was confident enough to sell the Land Cruiser overseas to emerging markets, thanks to the robust reception at the time of American military trials in 1957. The Land Cruiser was the first Toyota to hit the dealerships of the new countries and portrayed 38.2% of Japanese Vehicle exports in the year 1957.

Currently, the Land Cruiser is a comfortable and spacious SUV that still provides class-leading reliability and robust off-road performance. In spite of the fact, the current generation Land Cruiser is more focused on luxury and comfort, it remains to be a vital part of Toyota’s engineering excellence and reliability.
