Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition brings the 80s back
KUALA LUMPUR: The ongoing Land Cruiser (LC200) is in its twilight years, and as expected, Toyota has unveiled a special, limited-edition variant of the SUV.
The Japanese automaker first released the Heritage Edition for the US market, and it is followed up with another Heritage Edition. This time the SUV will serve the Middle East buyers, a prime region for big 4X4s like the Patrol and LC.
However, the one for the Middle East market is nothing like the edition for the US market. For example, the one sold in America was loaded with extra amenities and luxuries; the Middle Eastern version goes back to basics. The latest version is even a bit of a throwback to the 80s and 90s. The special, limited-edition of LC comes in two trims - Heritage 4.0L and Heritage 4.6L.

The LC Heritage 4.0L exterior has a bit of a retro vibe. For instance, the model rides on steel-pressed rims and comes with the classic ‘barn door’ arrangement that splits the tailgate half vertically. There’s also a spare tire mounted on the tailgate, and the side graphics are inspired by the one found in LC60, sold from 1980 to 1990.
Not just in looks, but on the tech front too, the special edition is a bit classic. Nor does it have a touchscreen or cruise control system. Also, the seats are covered in fabric, and the ones at the front can be adjusted manually. The third-row seat is missing, and so there is an expansive cargo area. But it’s not all old-school, as it is fitted with a cool box and climate control system.

The Heritage 4.0L is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 unit that churns out 271 PS of power and 385 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the wheels via 5-speed manual transmission system.
The Heritage 4.6L, on the other hand, is powered by a V8 engine and features way more comfort features. The driver’s seat is power-adjustable, and it gets a touchscreen as well. Other convenience and comfort features include - on-board air compressor, cruise control, sunroof, a cool box, and headlight levelers.

On the exterior front, the Heritage 4.6L variant gets alloy steel rims and more chrome bits too. It also gains LED headlights and foglights and roof rails from the LC80s.
The 4.6-liter V8 powertrain develops a maximum power of 304 PS along with a peak torque of 440 Nm. The mill is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
