Five automotive features that the new-gen takes for granted

Years before hashtags were a thing and phones were swiped, cars, as we see them now, were pretty rare. Yes, they had four wheels and an engine yet they lacked the modern-day amenities that are considered a standard thing in the car's nowadays. Most of you may think that the facilities that we have today in every car have always been around.

Here is a list of five modern vehicle features which most of the millennials take for granted.

Power Steering

Power Sterring

Nowadays turning your car’s wheel with your palm looks pretty cool, doesn’t it? It seems like a pretty simple fact that steering wheels are meant to turn easily with a slight force. However, this was not the case if we go back in time. It took a lot of effort to steer a vehicle once upon a time. If you ever noticed an aged driver turning the vehicle with their palm, that's because of his habit of using the older steering wheel which was bulky and required more elbow power to steer.

Central Locking

Almost all the cars of the modern era, be it entry-level or high-end are equipped with central locking system. Some of them also come with keyless entry. Most of the millennials probably have never experienced having to manually lock the door after exiting the vehicle.

Power windows

Sliding your window up and down is so easy in modern-day cars. All you need to do is press on that button and you have all the power in your thumb. In some cars, there is an automatic up/down control that slides as per the outside wind. But are you aware of the fact that going back in time, it required a lot of effort to slide a window up and down? The passenger had to rotate a knob just like a pulley to get the car window to slide.

Smartphone connectivity

Smartphone Connectivity

Being able to connect your iTunes playlist to your car’s stereo system is an absolute bliss! But back in time, you had to spend some extra bucks for playing your favourite Pink Floyd song in your car’s stereo system. If you had to go for a long drive, you had to pack a few cassettes or CDs for the entire trip. Moreover, for playing custom playlists the songs had to be recorded or burnt in one cassette or CD.

Navigation apps

Navigating apps like Google maps, Waze etc. have made it so simple for us to find our way at any place, any time. We do not need to memorize the routes anymore and leave it on the navigation app to do its job.

Yes, all the above-mentioned modern features have made our life easy and comfortable. Although we can't even dream of giving up these luxuries to go back to the manual era, we should never take them for granted too.
