At the Malaysian Motorcycle of the Year (MMOTY) Awards 2026, the Honda CBR650R E-Clutch was awarded Sportsbike of the Year (Below 1000-cc), while the CB650R E-Clutch won Naked Bike of the Year (Below 800-cc). The Honda E-Clutch was named as the Motorcycle Technology of the Year.
Honda E-Clutch system
The industry-first E-Clutch system gives the rider a choice of automatic clutch operation by simply using the shift pedal, making motorcycling even more enjoyable and exciting. It combines the automaker’s dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with a quick shifter, offering seamless up- and downshifts without needing to engage the clutch lever, even when starting or stopping.

2026 Honda CBR650R E-Clutch and Honda CB650R E-Clutch: Key highlights
Both models share the same chassis, engine, suspension & braking setup, with main differences lying in their design, aerodynamics, and riding posture. The CBR650R is a fully faired sportier bike, while the CB650R is a more comfortable naked model with upright ergonomics for daily commuting.
Key highlights are as follows -
- Both are powered by a 649-cc liquid-cooled, inline-four cylinder generating a maximum power of 93.8 hp at 12,000 rpm and a peak torque of 64 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox paired with the above-mentioned E-Clutch technology.
- The suspension setup comprises Showa Separate Function Front Fork-BigPiston at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear.
- Handling the braking duties are 310 mm diameter twin front discs and a 240 mm rear disc, complemented by a two-channel ABS.
- Other key features include a 5-inch full-colour TFT-LCD instrument console supporting Honda Roadsync connectivity, a USB charging port, traction control, an emergency stop signal, Honda ignition security system, a 15.4-litre fuel tank, and 17-inch wheels wrapped with 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres.
The new Honda CBR650R E-Clutch and Honda CB650R E-Clutch are now available at all authorised Honda BigWing dealers nationwide. Both models carry a two-year or 20,000 km manufacturer’s warranty, whichever comes first.
