Compact, electric, and instantly likeable
The moment I pulled away, I was surprised with this BMW IX1— electric torque generated in silence, but maintaining the familiarity of BMW steering. Around Mont Kiara and KLCC, the regenerative braking blended wonderfully with the stop-go traffic. What I appreciate the most is the 64.7 kWh usable battery, which comfortably handled a couple of daily commutes and a Subang errand trip without giving me any anxiety. The interior cabin design is quite modernistic and yet has a playful charm, together which feels quite premium. To top it off, the reversing camera and parking assistant are excellent, especially in tight mall ramps. If I’m being picky, it would be about the boot space that shrinks a bit due to the battery packaging.
