Very low fuel-economy
Toyota Hilux is known to be a dependable workhorse. But I did not have a positive experience with it. Its low fuel economy is something that makes me think twice while taking this vehicle out on the road for long drives. Even when I drive it gently without towing, it becomes challenging to reach 30 mpg. The fuel efficiency drops further when towing to 20 mpg. If I ignore the fuel efficiency, Hilux seems to have some positive aspects. It drives smoothly on the road and has a powerful engine. If given a choice, I would go for the Ford Ranger due to its better fuel economy.
