2017 Kia Sportage: Does it have something in real to offer?

2017 Kia Sportage: Does it have something in real to offer?

What 2017 Kia Sportage is?

As any fashion-forward person knows, it’s hard to stay a step ahead of everyone when it comes to progressive style. But Kia is clearly determined to try. 2017 Kia Sportage is the fourth-generation of the compact crossover, which was introduced to the world for its redesigned styling at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show, for the first time. And now at the LA auto show, Kia breaks its silence and has outlined everything from the compact crossover's trim levels and features to its two available engines.

What was the need of this restyled Kia compact crossover?

Although, Kia Sportage was playing fair against other compact crossovers of the market, holding up the share of about 20% for this year. Kia was not likely to sell much more than 50000 crossovers despite of its reputed position in the segment. With some advancements, Kia Sportage might cross its own potential of luring buyer's attention towards it – the company decided to bid one more take on this crossover which resulted in 2017 Kia Sportage face!

What “unique” does 2017 Kia Sportage offers?

2017 Kia Sportage represents a ground-up redesign of the model, adopting a more rounded look compared to the crossover it replaces. The tiger-nose grille makes it instantly recognizable as a Kia. The new Sportage stretches 1.6 inches longer than its predecessor and rides on a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase but maintains the same width. That means a more spacious cabin for both occupants and cargo, done up with more upscale materials and with the latest technologies buyers have come to expect. The new Sportage features advanced driver assistance technologies, including rear cross traffic alerts, automatic emergency braking when sensors detect a potential collision with another vehicle or pedestrian, a lane-departure warning system and blind-spot detection.

What is hidden beneath the new Sportage's hood?

Buyers will be able to choose between three trim levels, labeled LX, EX, and SX Turbo. The first two derive their power from a 2.4-liter four good for 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the latter steps up to a 2.0-liter turbo kicking out a more prodigious 241 hp and 260 lb-ft. Both promise improved efficiency, and can be had in front- or all-wheel drive, but either way they transmit their power to the road through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Which crossovers has the potential to beat this new Kia Crossover?

No doubt, 2017 Kia Sportage hits the sweet spot by providing an alternative for those seeking to express themselves with a vehicle that’s versatile enough to suit individual unique lifestyle. But, there are many more vehicles in the market which are in constant run to give strong competition to this Kia compact crossover. They compete in the market's hottest-selling segment i.e. crossover (one led by the Honda CR-V). In the coming years, this competition will grow more intense as buyers interest continue to shift from small cars to small utility vehicles that offer similar fuel efficiency in a more functional vehicle.
