BYD Malaysia recently expanded the Atto 3 lineup, with the launch of a new Performance trim that sits above the Ultra and Premium variants. From an accessible entry-point variant to a long-range cruiser and an explosive supercar-quick flagship, the expanded lineup offers three different iterations of the popular C-segment electric SUV.

• BYD Atto 3 Premium: Priced at RM 138,800 - The range-optimised, balanced option
• BYD Atto 3 Performance: Priced at RM 149,800 - Exclusive, all-wheel-drive performance (Notably, the availability of the top-spec variant is limited to 69 units only)

Powered by a single front-wheel motor, the base-spec offers responsive performance, suitable for everyday commuting. The 7.3-second 0-100 kmph acceleration is more than enough for city traffic and normal highway use. Its biggest advantage is therefore value, not performance.

The mid-spec Premium comes with a more powerful RWD drivetrain mated to a bigger battery, enabling the EV to accelerate quicker, go further, and charge quicker. It can be seen as a sweet spot of the range.

The top-spec Performance adds a front axle motor to the Premium’s drivetrain setup, allowing the electric SUV to complete the century sprint in a staggering 4 seconds, which puts it in sports car territory.

All three variants of the Atto 3 are equipped with the brand’s ultra-safe Blade LFP battery technology. The base-spec Ultra model uses a smaller 60.48 kWh pack, supporting up to 110 kW DC charging, while the Premium and Performance share the same 74.88 kWh pack, supporting up to 220 kW DC charging. The former offers 510 km of range while the latter reduces the range to 470 km due to increased energy consumption of its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

Choosing between the Atto 3 Ultra and Atto 3 Premium ultimately comes down to your budget and driving needs.

• If you want the maximum EV value without unnecessary bells and whistles, buy the Atto 3 Ultra that handles everyday city driving with ease, offers 204 PS of power, and saves RM 13k to RM 24k compared to the higher trims.
• If you want RWD driving dynamics with more power, higher range, and faster charging speed, choose the Atto 3 Premium.
• If you are looking for supercar-slaying acceleration with AWD driving dynamics, go for the Atto 3 Performance.
