KUALA LUMPUR: Globally unveiled in 2019, the all-new third-generation Isuzu D-Max is causing a stir in the pickup truck segment in every single market it has been launched. Currently, it is trending on number 1 on the sales chart in Thailand. Well, now the revamped pickup is set to be a game-changer for the brand in the Malaysian market. Isuzu Malaysia has now opened the pre-launch bookings of the 2021 D-Max alongside releasing a teaser image and a confirmation that the new model will make a debut by the end of this month.

The automaker also revealed some key specifications of the 2021 Isuzu D-Max, including the tentative price that ranges between RM 89,000 to RM 145,000 (Single Cab variants). Apparently, the upcoming version is dearer than the predecessor, however, it is still cheaper than the other available pickups in the market; the Ford Ranger Wildtrak is priced at RM 152,388, while the Toyota Hilux Rogue retails for RM 146,880).

Available in multiple configurations, the all-new D-Max is powered by a choice of the award-winning 1.9-litre RZ-4E engine or a re-tuned 3-litre 4JJ-3TCX mill. The former churns out a maximum output of 150 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm, while the larger mill is good for making 190 PS and 450 Nm (13 PS and 70 Nm more than the earlier unit). The transmission pairing options include a six-speed manual and automatic units.

In terms of design, the new 2021 D-Max features a bold and sporty style and sports a strong road presence from its masculine frontal fascia and more athletic and dynamic stance. The pickup now has larger dimensions including a longer wheelbase that provides a spacious cabin and larger load bed. This means that the automaker has also worked on the interior comfort and space alongside the performance of the truck.

“The all-new Isuzu D-Max has made scores of new fans in the markets it has been introduced in and I believe that the same will happen here in Malaysia,” added Mr. Suzuki.
