A new Mini John Cooper Works GP is coming in 2020

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW’s Mini has been in the industry for quite some time now. We don’t need to tell you what Mini is popular for. We all know about the cars it makes and they all follow a set of design elements that have been persistent over previous models. But, probably, the biggest thing that makes a Mini special is the JCW badge on it. We’ve seen John Cooper Works tune a few Minis in the past, and boy they were fast. Now, Mini says that a new JCW GP is coming in 2020.

The good news is that we’d get to witness another fast Mini in 2020. But the bad news is that that’s all Mini has said. There is no information/details related to the car. However, Mini showcased a John Cooper Works GP concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it is quite likely that the upcoming Mini JCW GP would borrow some design cues from this.

The concept JCW GP that we saw back in 2017 was itself a gorgeous car. And if the 2020 JCW GP is similar to it, it would be amazing. Just look at that concept car; it’s so beautifully done, right? And that was last year. We still have two years before the next JCW GP comes out. That means there is still a lot of time left for Mini to develop and further enhance the 2017 concept, which means we can even expect to see an even more thrilling machine.

Like we mentioned before, there is no information about the 2020 Mini JCW GP as of now. But if we do the math, the present generation Mini JCW GP hides a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine under its hood and has got 228 horses, so it is most likely that the next GP would have a more powerful engine. Also, there is going to be the involvement of a lot of carbon fibre to make the car as lightweight as possible.

Well, we are pretty excited about the new Mini John Cooper Works GP 2020. We hope in the meantime we get to see some kind of spy shots or gain more information on this amazing car. So, stay tuned.
