BMW Group Malaysia welcomes Budget 2024; plans to enhance its EV infrastructure

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Group Malaysia has appreciated the Budget 2024, which underpins the commitment of the government to the automaker's shared vision of sustainability and electrification. The carmaker also highlighted the initiatives taken by the government to accelerate the domestic electric vehicle sector's growth. These positive steps will play a crucial role in expediting the transition to EVs in the country.

BMW Group Malaysia emphasised the need to boost EV adoption for eco-friendly transportation. The carmaker welcomed the tax incentives offered by the Malaysian government for EV rental costs and charging facilities. With over 1,700 MINI EVs and BMWs delivered in eight months, the company has become a Premium EV provider in Malaysia. 

BMW plans to enhance its EV infrastructure by collaborating with the leaders in the governmental and automotive sectors. With partners like TNB, Gentari, JomCharge, Siemens, and Leader EV, the carmaker has successfully expanded the BMW i Charging network to more than one thousand facilities across Malaysia.

BMW Group Malaysia has strengthened its strategic partnership with Gentari to address charging concerns. Together, they are dedicated to providing a mobile charging solution to Malaysian EV owners.

Recognizing the need for experienced professionals in the automotive sector, BMW is carrying out the BMW High Voltage Expert certification program. This program aims to train individuals with the expertise needed for the electric vehicle era.

Driven by ESG goals, BMW Group Malaysia is open to forming alliances with local partners to address mutual concerns.
